The Catfish and Me

4:28 AM
Saturday night after being left by my "friends" at Smith and Wollinski when I went to the restroom, and then going to meet a girlfriend with a live-in boyfriend and her married friend who were being entertained by an un-married dentist, and feeling a bit left out, I decided to call a friend of mine who is freelance, but who often works for NBC, and covers Trump when he's in town.  Usually he doesn't answer the phone nor have much time to talk with me, but at 10:30pm Saturday night, he answered.  He said he was in West Palm Beach covering Trump, and asked me to visit, and was just getting back to his big suite after a long work day.

I said that I couldn't come at first, because I didn't have any clothes!  Then he said he would buy me some new ones!

The last time he asked me was a year ago, and I thought it was inappropriate, because we had just met, and I wasn't sure what his intentions were...later he told me that he had intended to get me my own room, but just wanted time to spend with me, as he works very long hours.  So, this time, feeling a little low and in need of a change of pace, I decided to take him up on his offer.

The funny thing is that this particular friend earned the name "Catfish" from my South Beach friends who watch TV (I rarely do), because it was such a long time of texting before we even met in person just a few months ago.

I got there just before midnight, and my friend was happy to see me...just what I needed!
He said he had to get up at 4:45am, and he had not gotten enough sleep the night before, but he wanted to take me out and show me a bit of West Palm, and where he would be filming the next day, so that I could find him.

He said all of the networks were there covering Trump, as he was in West Palm Beach, and every time Trump is there...my friend needs to be there for NBC.
The next day, I needed to get some clothes, as I had just left my girlfriends the night before at a Hillstone's restaurant in Coral Gables, and made the trip to WPB!  My friend told me about some great outlet stores that are here, because although there were some very nice stores across the street...I told him that I am a bargain shopper, and I love to get great deals!!!  So he told me get in an Uber, and tell them you want to go to the "Outlet Mall" and any driver will know where to go!

Of course, I got the one driver from out of town who had no idea!  But together, and with the help of Waze...we found it!!!

I was so happy, and feeling so good and loved, but also TIRED from a long day of shopping!!

I found some terrific bargains, and just what I love and need...A PRIVATE SHOPPER!!  Ok, she wasn't't really MY private shopper, but Debbie in the White and Black Store helped me find about 4 cute dresses with accessories for $200!!
So, then I called my friend to see if I could visit where he was filming or if he was almost done...he said he might finish early that day...He told me to meet him at the Hilton bar where we were last night!  It was just before 4pm, and he wasn't finished working, but he had made the excuse that he needed to get one of his associates a coffee, so he could come over to meet me for a drink.  My friend is so fun and spontaneous!  HAHA!

The thing was, there ended up being a FIRE ALARM going off in the hotel, and the place was being evacuated with Fireman walking all over the place, and the employees up in arms, and not knowing what to do, so they just GAVE us both a drink, and then we left with our coffee for his associate, and went to where the news was being filmed by all of the networks!!
After the cameras were ready, my friend and his cousin who works for NBC invited me to do a
"test shot!"
So, this is the White House correspondent on the NBC news, and the man in the pictures above was in a big van right off the site preparing her live footage.
My friend wasn't done filming the news until around 9 or 9:30pm, and it turned out that he had to leave early the next morning to film it again, and then get on Air Force One with the Secret Service and President Trump to follow the President back to his home in NY.

Still, he wanted to take me out again in WPB!
This man runs on no sleep.
By the time we went back to the hotel and got showered and changed, it was already 10pm, but we found ROCCO'S TACOS, which was an awesome hoppin' place in the middle of what appeared to be a sleepy street for some delicious food to share, and my favorite drink of sipping tequila and light beer!  He said "NOW that you've seen me work, do you understand why I go missing sometimes, and cannot answer my phone nor respond to you!??"  I said, "yes, now I understand."

The next morning he got up early to go back to work, and I joined my friend and his cousin whom he works with in the hotel for breakfast, and then I made my way back to South Beach for Martin Luther King Day, after what was a splendid impromptu adventure!
